By 1912, the Rapid names was dropped and the name was changed to GMC.

  • Fort Wayne Assembly Plant in Roanoke, Indiana – The GMC Sierra is built here.
  • Arlington Assembly Plant in Arlington, Texas – The GMC Yukon and Yukon XL are built here.
  • Lansing Delta Township Assembly Plant in Delta Township, Michigan – The GMC Acadia is built here.

Is GMC and Chevy the Same?

GMC and Chevy truck models are very similar, leading some Canton drivers to assume that they are the same. They are not the same, although they are both owned by GM. They still are to this day, which is why the models are so similar. However, GMC is known more as a luxury truck maker, where a GMC sports more features than a Chevy counterparts.
